Happy Birthday JillFit + HIIT Cardio Package

Happy Birthday JillFit (+ 500 blogs!)

This month is a very special one for me and for JillFit as a company, and I want to share it with you. JillFit is turning 4 years old this month and I am also getting ready to publish my 500th blog.

Wow.

It’s been a wild ride full or ups and downs: on stage, off stage, deprive, binge, abstain from alcohol, drink wine, just follow this meal plan, meal plans are bogus, cheat meals, preemptive cheats, Intermittent Sampling, obsess, stay mindful, One Fry Rule, choose your perception, give yourself the benefit of the doubt, and about a million other concepts …

… and approximately 121,488 #BASes later, I am so, soooo grateful.

THANK YOU.

Always writing with wine in hand ;)

Thank you for being here, for being part of the discussion, for reading, reflecting, thinking, introspecting, for working to get better while working to love yourself the whole way. Thank you to everyone who has read, shared and resonated with any of the blogs on the site.

It’s been the most incredibly therapeutic gift for me these last 4 years, like a virtual journal, a creative space to share my crazy inner thoughts, struggles, successes and everything in between! And the fact that anyone reads it or cares continues to humble me.

THANK YOU.

How JillFit took on a new voice …

I started JillFit originally as a competition prep and fat loss website and since, it has turned into so much more. I was about 3 months into blogging in January 2011, and I was really struggling with content because I was trying to be really scientific and sound really smart and check “the science” and make sure to have all the answers and “be an expert.” But because of that, the blog had very little of my voice and it was mostly just lists of rules, recipes and workouts. All objective, nothing to insightful or real.

All fine — pretty much all fitness blogs are like that. Except that for me, it was starting to become painstakingly hard to write ANYTHING because I was always second guessing myself and trying to be the perfect little fitness professional.

Until January 2011, when I was having a particularly hard week, struggling through some writing, no ideas, zero creativity, I suddenly just said, “Fuck it” — and I start writing from the heart. I started writing my ass off, opening up about my experiences, my inner thoughts, feelings, things I was struggling with, successes I had and all of a sudden, writing was easy. It was effortless.

Here is that first post that changed things for me.

And since then, blogging at JillFit has been nothing but a complete joy. I try to be as open, honest and transparent as possible because I believe there’s power is showing the realness of the struggle. I want people to know that they are not alone in their journey and that how they feel is normal human shit, and we are all doing our best and we are all in it together. Even on our “bad days,” we are still okay.

Since that day in January 2011, JillFit has been nothing short of magical for me.

THANK YOU.

And as a thank you, I put together a free HIIT Cardio Guide for you — 12 of my fav 40 minute (or less) workouts for the gym or track.
