However, more importantly, Vanessa came to terms with her health in many other ways. Read on as Vanessa shares with us some personal challenges, as well as how a new nutrition program helped her turn over a new leaf and overcome some past demons. For the past several years, I had been playing a game of Russian Roulette with my health- and not in the way that most people would think. See, I am a certified personal trainer and nutrition counselor, and even though I took great care of my body at the gym, I wasn’t taking great care of it internally.
Most people had no idea that I was prescribed a severely addicting medication in 2007 that almost killed me. Back then, I thought that I ‘needed’ this medication, and so began a 2-year, horrific downward spiral of hospital visits, severe adrenal fatigue, dehydration, extreme weight loss, blood pressure problems, bleeding gums and skin, horrible depression each hour that I wasn’t taking a pill…and so many more issues. I eventually decided I needed to save my own life (because the doctors surely weren’t going to) and I quit the medication cold-turkey against a doctor’s advice.
I endured 6-8 months of pure HELL as I went through withdrawals from this: sleep paralysis, night terrors, depression, teeth and jaw pain, and weight gain! Even worse, I was still experiencing some of this a year later when I decided to contact Jill. I came to her lost, hopeless, sad, irritated, confused, and weak. Between the withdrawals and my diet, I was beat down and couldn’t take any more.
I decided to sign up for the 12-week competition diet and workout plan because I needed a challenge, and Jill hooked me up with my coach, Tara Ballard, who immediately went to work for me. After discussing my goals and my food diary, Tara designed a perfect diet for me that worked with my schedule. After the first week, I literally stopped all lingering withdrawal symptoms, had my first week of wonderful sleep, and I then knew that this was the decision that was going to save my life. I went from a typical “healthy” diet of cereals, sandwiches, nuts, and whole grains to a fat loss diet of chicken breast, green veggies, oat bran, and white fish. I was finally on my way to looking and feeling the way I knew I should! October 11, 2010 I started out weighing 140lbs and was about a size 7 in pants. Jan 8, 2011, I weighed in at 120lbs and I am now a size 3!
There will never be enough words to explain my gratefulness to Jill and her team, and the Metabolic Effect for continually supporting me and encouraging me during a very dark time in my life. They never gave up on me even when I had almost given up on myself. Now here I am, a whole new chapter in my life, free of medication, depression, side effects, and pain! And I owe it all to the Jillfit team!! Thank you!!!
